When it comes to the ideal job offer, most job seekers tend to overlook the company culture. Instead, we tend to focus on other aspects such as salary and office perks to name a few. Overlooking company culture leads to devastating results. Additionally, company review websites are also a great way for job applicants looking to find out more about the company’s brand, policies, as well as human resources benefits.

Eventually, these employees find it tough to mesh with the organization’s office culture. This could lead to job dissatisfaction and lower rates of productivity. Not being a great job fit also puts job seekers at risk of not passing the job interview.

As a manpower recruitment agency in Singapore, we believe that finding the right office culture that matches a candidate’s personality well is crucial. Here are several websites all job seekers in Singapore should check before accepting a job offer:

    1. Glassdoor Singapore

Unless you’ve been residing under a rock, you would’ve heard of Glassdoor. The website allows both employees to leave reviews of various companies and managers. Additionally, job seekers can also share and find potential interview questions and payscale on the website. However, you should be wary of the reviews available on Glassdoor. Some companies are known to tamper with their Glassdoor reviews. Similarly, past employees who left the company on bad terms might use the company review site to leave their last word. Like most review websites, take things with a grain of salt.

    2. Indeed

Indeed is a great job search website for Singaporeans looking to land reputable positions. But do you know that Indeed is also a great site to find out more about the company’s culture. Users can rank their employers anywhere on a scale from 1 to 5. Additionally, users can also make a list of the different pros and cons of the company. Like Glassdoor, Indeed is a popular website used by a number of companies. This means that it is more likely to contain self-reported reviews from past employees who’ve left the company on terrible terms. Take the reviews with a grain of salt. You might need to do a little more digging to find out more about the company.

    3. LinkedIn

Not all companies on Glassdoor and Indeed have reviews. This is especially true for smaller organizations such as SMEs. As a job seeker, it is your duty to figure out if the organization will be a great fit for you based on your ethics, personality, and even working style. Enter LinkedIn, a tool used by most job seekers to source for jobs and by most professionals to network. Most major companies on Linkedin often have a “Life” tab that gives applicants a glimpse into the corporate culture. In addition, checking out the different employees and connecting with them might be a good way to get a more accurate description of the organization’s working culture.

How to use LinkedIn to investigate company culture:

    • Find mutual connections: The more mutual connections you have with someone. The higher the chances are of your questions being answered.

    • Check titles and significance: Networking with the right people might lead to a possible job offer. It’ll also give you insight into your potential teammates and your superiors. If you feel uncomfortable, you can browse through profiles on LinkedIn anonymously through the website’s private mode.

    4. Social Media Websites

In the current digital age, it is no surprise that most companies, small and large are on a number of social media websites. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are just some common examples. But more and more recruiters and companies are also appearing on Tik Tok, a rapidly growing social media website. These websites might be able to give you an overview of the company culture but also the different employees who work there. In fact, companies often use their social media sites as platforms to talk about new product releases or interesting press coverage. So before you attend that job interview, take a few hours to research the company’s social media sites. Watch their videos on YouTube, find out your potential teammate’s Instagram pages, and see if you’ll be able to get along with the people there.

    5. Quora

Quora is a website dedicated to asking and answering questions. The website allows users to discuss various topics and anyone can share their opinions and perspective. It’s also a great way to connect with ex-employees who are not on social media or LinkedIn. Additionally, you might also be able to sift through the website and find out if anyone has asked questions about the company you’re interested in. Or maybe even the job you’re planning on pursuing.

Researching company culture is an important part of the job hunt. Employees who manage to find companies that they can mesh well with are often happier and have higher levels of productivity. So, think of this as additional research to ensure your future happiness!
